Lifeguard Ongoing Training London monthly CPD that keeps your NPLQ alive.
Lifeguard Ongoing Training London, the way working lifeguards actually need it. A monthly programme of online CPD modules plus a Friday in-pool practical session, recorded straight to your RLSS account. Built so working lifeguards can log the 20 hours required to qualify for a 1-day NPLQ renewal, rather than retaking the full £350 course.
Three lifeguards walk into a pool. They all need the same thing.
Ongoing CPD is the spine of your NPLQ. Lifeguard Ongoing Training London buyers come to us from three places, and whichever route brought you here, the destination is the same: a logged, RLSS-recognised record of competent practice.
The working lifeguard
You hold an in-date NPLQ and work at a pool, a hotel gym, a holiday park or a school. You need the 20 hours of recorded ongoing training to stay eligible for a 1-day renewal when your certificate expires.
The renewer topping up
Your NPLQ is approaching its 2-year expiry, the renewal window is closing, and you're short on logged hours. You need to bank training fast, recorded properly, before the 28-day post-expiry deadline forces you back to the full course.
The independent operator
You lifeguard freelance, casually, or at a small site with no in-house Trainer Assessor. You need a credible, RLSS-aligned CPD trail so renewal day isn't a problem when it arrives.
Why Lifeguard Ongoing Training London works better this way.
Online CPD videos
Real video modules filmed with our Trainer Assessor team, covering each month's RLSS topic block. Watch on your phone, your laptop, in any order, between shifts.
In-pool practical
One Friday evening per month, 6pm to 8pm at Mill Hill School pool. Pick any Friday in the month that fits your shifts. Rescues, spinal management, CPR in the water, casualty recovery, the lot. Hands-on, in the water, with a current Trainer Assessor.
RLSS account logging
Every attended session is recorded to your RLSS UK account by our Trainer Assessor team, so when renewal day comes, your hours are already there, signed and stamped.
Quizzes after every module
Short knowledge checks at the end of each online module, the same way a Trainer Assessor would group-question you in a leisure-centre training. Pass, log, move on.
Paper certificate
You leave each Friday with a signed record of attendance. Useful for your employer's NOP file, useful if you ever need to evidence training outside the RLSS portal.
No contract
Subscribe monthly, pause when you're away, cancel when you don't need it. The point is to keep your hours moving, not to lock you into a 12-month bill.
Stay current, or pay full course again.
When an NPLQ expires, RLSS UK gives a strict 28-day grace window for the 1-day renewal. Miss it without logged ongoing training, and you're back to the £350 full course. The cheap path is the consistent one.

RLSS UK's Ongoing Training and Competency Assessment plan runs as a 6-session cycle that repeats every six months. Each 2-hour session combines the lifeguard role and supervision (20 minutes), CPR, AED and first aid (40 minutes) and rescue technique (1 hour). At Swimcore, our Lifeguard Ongoing Training London programme delivers the theory and assessment online via video CPD; the practical is the Friday session in the pool.

We took the standard 2-hour leisure-centre OT&CA structure and split it. The classroom hour becomes on-demand video CPD with quizzes; the pool hour becomes a longer, focused Friday practical, 6pm to 8pm. Same RLSS framework, better fit for working lifeguards.
- RLSS-aligned monthly content, no shortcuts
- Filmed by qualified Trainer Assessors, not stock video
- Both halves logged together to your RLSS account
- Signed paper certificate every Friday session attended
- Pause for holidays or shift patterns, resume anytime

Thank you
A huge thank you to the trainers for all their help and encouragement. I passed my NPLQ and genuinely feel well prepared to work as a lifeguard. I would definitely recommend Swimcore Academy to anyone looking to complete their lifeguard qualification! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Everything you need to know before you subscribe.
RLSS UK runs the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification on a 2-year cycle. To qualify for the 1-day renewal at the end of those 2 years, you need to have logged a body of recorded ongoing training during the cycle (commonly cited as around 20 hours of competency-assessed practice). Without it, the 1-day renewal route closes and you fall back to the full NPLQ course at £350 plus the time off work to attend.
The £15/month subscription includes the monthly online CPD video modules, the Friday in-pool practical, automatic RLSS account logging, and a signed paper certificate. You pause or cancel anytime. It's designed for continuous compliance across your 2-year cycle.
The £25 one-off is for lifeguards who only need to top up a few hours before renewal day. It buys you a single Friday practical session, logged to your RLSS account, with the certificate. It does not include access to the online CPD modules. If you'll need more than two top-up sessions, the subscription is cheaper.
The in-pool practical runs every Friday evening, 6pm to 8pm, at Mill Hill School pool, NW7 1QS. As a subscriber, you only need to attend one Friday per month, not every week. Pick whichever Friday in the month fits your shifts. The slot runs longer than the standard 1-hour leisure-centre practical because we move the theory online, which lets us spend more contact time on the water-based skills.
Subscribers access a member dashboard powered by MemberPress. Each month, the relevant RLSS topic block unlocks: video modules filmed with our Trainer Assessor team, followed by short knowledge-check quizzes. Content is drip-released monthly to match the live RLSS 6-session cycle, so what you watch in the videos lines up with what we cover in the pool.
Within 24 to 48 hours of attending the Friday practical, our Trainer Assessor team records your attendance and competency directly to your RLSS UK account through the OT&CA online portal. You'll also leave the session with a signed paper certificate, which is useful for your employer's NOP file or if you ever need to evidence training outside the RLSS portal.
No, and we'd push back on this even if RLSS allowed it. The Tahdah online CPD route through RLSS UK is capped at a limited number of hours, one-time use across a renewal cycle. The substantive ongoing-training hours have to come from hands-on practical in a pool. The Friday session is where your renewal eligibility actually gets built.
Yes, anytime. There's no contract. If you're away for a month, on holiday, on shift patterns that don't fit, or your renewal is months away and you want to take a break, pause it from your member dashboard. Resume when you're ready. No re-joining fee.
It depends on how far past expiry you are. RLSS UK allows a 28-day post-expiry window for the 1-day renewal route, no exceptions. If you're inside that window and you have enough logged ongoing training, you can still go the renewal route. Read our renewal page for the full eligibility rules. If you're past 28 days, the full NPLQ course is the only route back; ongoing training won't bridge that gap.
Yes. We deliver the full RLSS UK Ongoing T&CA programme for hotel pools, residential sites, schools, and small leisure facilities that don't have an in-house Trainer Assessor. Our Lifeguard Ongoing Training London delivery includes site-specific NOP and EAP refreshers, full attendance registers, individual training records, the manager's wall chart, all of it RLSS Edition 6 First Revision compliant. See the operator section above or get in touch directly.
You only need to attend one Friday per subscribed month, and we run the practical every Friday at Mill Hill, so there are typically 4 chances per month to fit it in around your shifts. If you genuinely miss a whole month, the next month's session covers the next topic block in the RLSS 6-month rolling cycle, and the online modules stay accessible while you're subscribed.
