Many often think that they are too old to learn how to swim. However, there is no age limit on swimming! Everybody, no matter what age you are, has the ability to learn this amazing skill. Swimming provides many benefits that apply to both adults and children, so even if you’re an adult, grab yourself some new swimwear and head to the pool.
Here are some top tips for adults learning to swim at an older age.
1. Start Easy
If it’s your first time in the water, stay in the shallow end of the pool. This is a great way for you to get used to being in the water whilst feeling safe. You can stand up in the shallow part of the pool and practise lowering yourself further down until you feel ready to tackle the deeper waters.
2. Practise Regularly
Practice really does make perfect when it comes to swimming. Make sure you are regularly going to the pool to improve your swimming abilities. The more time you spend in the water, the more comfortable you will be, and the more time you are giving yourself to learn the new skill. If you’re struggling to find time, split your sessions into smaller, more manageable blocks.
