1. Feel weightless in the water!
If you struggle to do weight-bearing exercises like running or jogging, try swimming. It is the ultimate low-impact exercise! In the water, you will have 80-90% less weight pressing on your bones, meaning that your workout will be much less painful – allowing you to swim more and burn more calories. Swimming breaststroke or backstroke will burn the same number of calories as a slow jog or fast walk, without the stress on your joints. Plus, the resistance of the water gives you a total body workout in a way that jogging doesn’t, stretching out your muscles and increasing your all-over mobility.

There is something particularly therapeutic about being in water. Swimming is meditative and rhythmic. It focuses your breathing and brings you peace of mind. When you lose weight through swimming, your body will be smaller, you’ll burn fewer calories and produce less heat, in turn reducing how much you sweat… and you may even be ready to show off your new weight loss in the gym!
